Marketing strategies for startups
De Micheli shared experiences and helpful tips for startups facing marketing challenges with limited budgets. Among the most effective approaches, he highlighted:
- Strategic Networking : Most of Moonify’s customers were acquired through word of mouth and partner collaborations.
- Physical and digital presence : Participating in industry trade shows (among the most important trade shows Moonify has attended are Netcomm Forum, Web Summit, Collision, and Vivatech) and optimizing digital marketing activities, such as SEO and sponsorships, are key elements of growth.
- Personalized Outbound : A tailored approach to customer acquisition can make the difference compared to standardized emails (while remaining intact with respect to your values)
Dario also shared a negative, yet formative, experience with a toxic client. This situation taught Moonify the importance of carefully selecting clients and setting clear boundaries to protect his team. “Not all clients need to be clients,” he noted, emphasizing the importance of knowing when to say no.
Marketing at zero (or almost zero) cost
Ultimately, especially for a startup, a limited budget can be compensated for by a strong idea coupled with proper networking.
“If there is value in the market, even a low budget can be more effective than investing millions in projects with no concrete utility.”
Why it’s important to remember: success doesn’t depend only on financial resources, but on the ability to innovate and respond to people’s real needs .
